Biography

Raquel Adler (b. 1997, Manhattan, New York) is an emerging artist who makes mixed-media paintings, prints, collages, and artist books.

Her conceptual artworks are centered around interpersonal relationships and directly respond to the idea of memory and use personal experiences from the artist as an origin point. Often, her work challenges the universal belief that a picture tells an accurate, unbiased story. She questions the boundary between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, blending both in an expressive and cathartic revival of her past.

Adler received her BFA in Studio Art from Adelphi University in 2020, where she participated in her solo exhibition, I Hope One Day You’ll Forgive Me, and two group exhibitions. She also contributed to a collaborative piece Mare Nostrum (Our Sea), with artist Stephanie Owens that exhibited at COPE NYC’s Artist in Residence Project. Upon receiving her BFA, Adler received the Peter Paone Award for Excellence in Works on Paper. She later received a residency in the Winter of 2021 at the School of Visual Arts in New York and a residency in the Fall of 2021 with the Peter Bullough Foundation in Winchester, Virginia. She currently resides and works in Long Island, NY.
